There are a number of organisations which collect and publish research and statistics.   • The Department of Communities and Local Government collects and publishes official statistics relating to deprivation, fire and rescue services, housing and homelessness, local government finance, planning performance and land use.

  • The Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) collects and publishes official statistics on employment programmes, household income, benefits, pensions and other areas the department is responsible for.
  • NOMIS is a service provided by the Office for National Statistics to provide free access to the most detailed and up-to-date UK labour market statistics.


  • The Department for Education (DfE) collects and publishes official statistics about schools, children and young people. Additionally, they publish school performance tables which allow you to view details about school performance, characteristics, workforce, finance and Ofsted inspection outcomes.


  • Pansi and Poppi are used by planners and commissioners of social care provision in England, together with providers and supporting organisations. They are designed to help explore the possible impact that demography and certain conditions may have on populations of those aged 18-64 ( Pansi) and 65+ (Poppi).
  • Public Health England provides many high quality data, analysis tools and resources for public health professionals. Their data and knowledge gateway provides direct access to these resources.


  • The government releases public data to help people understand how they work and how policies are made. Some of this data is already available, but brings it together in one searchable website.
  • The Office of National Statistics is the government's statistical service. They collect, hold and publish large amounts of information on many social and economic indicators that reflect life in Britain today.
